One day a couple of weeks ago Nate called me up and told me that The Brattle was doing a tribute to Anita Mui who died of cancer last year. Well you all may or may not know her from Jackie Chan movies like "Rumble in the Bronx, and "Legend of Drunken Master". I agreed to go with him to all three tribute movies. The first movie was "Heroic Trio". I didn't really know what to expect, how could it be bad it's got Anita, Michelle Yeoh, and Maggie Cheung. (All have been in Jackie Chan movies might I add.) I saw some cover art for it and thought "Whoa this is going to be awesome!" and it didn't disappoint. It was some of the best girl fighting ever!!! It had the usual silly, over-the-top scenes and shoddy story but that's fine HK action flicks are all about how silly it can get. It's great and is a must have for the HK movie collection.
