Today JD has officially met every member of my family.
It starts out with us leaving Boston and going to my Grandma's house in NY. When we got there he got to meet my uncles two kids Maria and Al Jr. Luckily for JD Maria is a teenager and Al Jr. isn't a toddler. Kids tend to be immediately attracted to JD and start behaving like baboons when he is around and all he does is simply say "Hi".
A few days later my uncle Alvin flies in. I was a little apprehensive about JD meeting Al. I thought Alvin was going to put him through a series of rigorous questioning, with good reason. The kitchen was filled with people and I'm in the hallway talking to Maria when I hear "You know that I"m going to have to interogate you." I look around and see Al looking in JD's direction. Mean while my Grandma is telling Al "He's cool, he's cool!" Well I must say I was suprised by this. Grandma was vouching for my boyfriend! Something I've never seen her do for anyone else. Anyway the "interogation" consisted of nto much more than finding out where JD is from and what he is doing in life.
Yesterday my aunt Jennifer and her kids flew in to NY. JD had already met her daughter Vanessa but had not met her or Troy, her son. Since Jennifer and the kids would be leaving tomorrow I called my aunt Brenda to see about coming over. The original plan was that Brenda was going to drop her daughter Ashley over at my Grandma's house and I was going to watch her while she went out. Al Jr. had spent the night at Joan's house to play with her son Shannon. Vanessa crashed at Grandma's house to spend time with Maria. So when Alvin Sr. went to pick up Al Jr. he took Vanessa and Maria with him.
Now all the while I was expecting my aunt Brenda to ring the bell and drop Ashley off. This never happened so I call her house. No answer. I call my aunt Joan's to see were Alvin is. When she picks up the phone I hear this rukus in the background. Apparently she has all six of my cousins at her house. Their parents are out and she is being driven mad by the kids. I hadn't got to see my cousin Troy or Jenny yet so I drag JD to Joan's house. We walk in and the most insanse cacaphone is flooding my ears. I walked into the room that the kids where in and immediately walked out. I couldn't take the noise. I felt really bad for Joan and Basil, her husband, they had to deal with that all day.

I'm done done done with this semester. Now I get to spend Christmas with the fam. Though I found that letting my aunt Sheryl know that I don't have an 8:30 am final tomorrow was a bad idea. She is actually expecting us to leave the house by 6:00 am, not 6:30. "I will expect to see you guys here by 11:00 am" What the hell!?! I don't know when my family started to miss me so much. She actually started off trying to talk us into leaving tonight.
The draw back to going to NY for Christmas is that we will be without World of Warcraft for over a week. I wonder if we will suffer withdrawal and how severe it will be if we do.

Last night Nicole, Carley, Jillian, Nate and I went on the turykey hunt. We stepped into Roche Bros. and headed for the turkey isle. Immediately we spotted the one. The 29.34 lb wonder. This is the second year that we bought the turkey from Roche Bros. and again was able to find the monster turkey immediately. Roche Bros. is my turkey connection.

I'm not ready. I have been overwhelmed with class work and can't believe how little time is left before pre-thanksgiving. I feel that I am not well prepared to have this fantastical feast. The house is a mess and I don't know when I'm going to get the chance to clean it because I have so much school work to do this weekend. We have to go shopping for the giganto bird and other necessities, which might be hard given JD's school schedule and I haven't yet talked to Nate about doing the grocery shopping for this party. I need more hours in the day and more days in the week!!!

Oh joy and contentment. Tis the time when you get to take the first tests of the sememster.
I think that I successfully managed to calculate resistances, currents, powers and voltages for the Circuit Analysis test.
Our Physics II Prof. told us that as long as we know how to do the practice and homework problems we should be fine for the test. He is also letting us bring a sheet containing equations and constants. I've typed that up, I understand the homework and practice problems. BRING IT ON!!!
UGGGHHH!! Calculus II inverse trigfunctions!!! I don't like trig function to begin with. At least I don't have to do graphs. Will I successfully navigate my way through indeterminate limits, inverse trig functions, natural exponent and log functions and the Mean Value Theorem of Integrals? Ach!! Work and Voulmes of Reveloutions too!!!! Must remember the unit ciricle so I don't forget the values involved in the trig functions!!! GAH!!

I recently finished On the Moon. I made it with a nice blue and used cute silver heart buttons instead. Alas our digital camera is broken and we have yet to find a replacement for it so I can pose pictures of projects.
I finally finished the baby sweater for Cindy. Now I have to find her address and mail it to her.
Let's see... on other knitting frontiers I was commissioned by JD's mother to knit several scarves and a baby blanket. Those I did and she happily recieved them. It was cute to hear her message on our answering machine. Christmas came a little early for her.
I have currently begun to make granny squares out of the leftover Homespun yarn I have in hopes of reducing my stash. Eventually they will be sewn together to make an afgahn. It will be interesting when it is finished because not all the yarns blend well together and I'm going to have to find a tasteful way to incorporate the off color ones.
I'm also in the process of making a tie for someone as at UMass. He has told me that he is forever grateful and will name his first born girl child after me. Hee hee...
I also have a shawl that I've been working on for what seems like forever now. I actually bought PINK yarn to make this shawl! What is the world coming to! I'm willingly going to wear something that is pink! Crazy I know.
Lastly, JD and I have made a nice skull pattern because JD wants a skull sweater. I will also be using this skull pattern to make something for a friend who is no longer residing in Boston. Hopefull I can successfully enlargen the pattern so that the proportions will be correct. I think that I have figured out how and it will turn out fine.
Oh I also made a little holder for my cell phone. It needs a button though. I had a little button mix up at the LYS and have to go back to exchange it for the right button. The mix up was my fault. I thought I was being helpful but I realized when I got home I probably wasn't.

A couple of weeks ago JD informed me that we were going to be getting new cellular phones. I was a bit suprised...actually alot suprised because our phones work fine and have held up well for the past 2 years and some odd months (well at least my phone held up well). JD's however was suffering. The buttons were losing the top layer of plastic and some of the lettering had completely rubbed off on the lower buttons. I could see why he would want a new one.
JD calls me at work and suggest a couple of Samsung camera models to me. I peruse the selection via the Verizon Wireless website. I am taken with the a670, but would be willing to settle for the a610 ( our friend Jillian has an a610 and it's nice). We go to the Verizon store to compare the two and settle on the a670 because it's smaller.
Now I have a mini camera in my phone!! (isn't it great when technology makes spy movie gadgets a reality). And I hope to capture some fun pics for future posting.

JD and I hopped over to visit Nate and Carley the night the Olympics started. We watched some men's gymnastics and swimming. Carley then informed me that the swimmers who are assigned to the lanes on either end (lanes 1,2,7, and 8) are the "sucky" swimmers. Now, personally I think that they deserve some kudos. I mean after all they made it to the Olympics. How sucky can they be? They should be given the prime spot so they have a fighting chance. If the favored swimmers are so damned good why don't the prove their worth by having the crappy lanes? Why handicap the swimmers who are not as good as the favored swimmers? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
I haven't been imbibing as much alcohol since the last Debbie party I went to. Miss Debbie and Miss Beth are leaving for LA and I have to go to their last bash. Let's see what fun antics I get into this time. I will try not to triple fist the pectin shots.

The Boston Fetish Fair is coming. I really want to check it out but I don't think it would be appropriate to take JD's best friend and his new girlfriend (mind you the day of the fair would be the first day that I am meeting her). If it was just Adam he might be game just because he'd expect it of me.

I have never had a job were the customers are better and easier to deal with than my co-workers. Until now that is. I have to work with one of the more annoying males I've ever met. He's incompotent, stupid, and childish. I also think that he doesn't like it when a woman knows more than he does. What does that mean for me? I get asked asinine questions, talked down to, pestered for attention, doing most of the work to prevent mistakes from happening ( mind you this has to be the easiest job I have ever had), correcting really stupid mistakes (ex. not FILING paperwork in the correct alphabetical order), having the idiot lie about me in front of me, our co-worker and our boss ( she was aware of his false accusations), gloating when he finally is right and I wasn't (he spent the rest of the day trying to prove me wrong about several other things and just ended up being wrong himself and looking like even more of an idiot), the list just goes on. I've already expressed to him that I dislike him yet he insist on trying to engage me in conversation. It doesn't matter how many curt answers I give him he keeps coming back. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to be there five days a week but I do because I'm the most compotent person in that office and Julie isn't as willing to give me days off like she does the other two because if I'm not there shit goes wrong. I've got one of the advisors calling me that heart of the testing center. I'm a freaking student worker I get paid a pittance and have way more responsibility than I ever wanted simple because I'm capable. So much for easy summers. Mind you I have never wanted the school year to start as much as I want it to start now. Oh, I'm also the only one at the testing center working the week of the DNC, even my boss took that week off.

Apparently some pharmacists and pyhsicians are choosing not to dispense or prescribe birth control pills because they feel it can cause "silent" abortions.

The Grandma visit turned out to be a success. She was making plans to come visit again in a year or sooner when we were walking out of the house to take her to the train station. It is a monumentally big deal that she enjoyed herself. I used to believe that she thought fun was just a dirty word and something only to be had by slackers and loafers. It's nice that she has started to mellow out.
I just realized that I have not mentioned anything about my knitting projects in quite a while. I have finished my yoga mat bag. It's a little too long but otherwise I think it went well. I made myself a shawl that was immediately hijacked by my grandmother. I made her another one just to be nice. I started a third shawl and she was eyeing that too but I told her no way it's mine. And so I am making myself a rose colored shawl with Pattons Divine.

My Grandma is visiting, YATTA!!!! It's been bretty good so far. We haven't had any arguments and she seems to be having fun. We took her to see "Around the World in 80 Days" I have never known her to go to a movie or even rent one and was unsure if she would even like it. I figured it was a good bet since she used to watch old Kung Fu flicks. Ahhhhh... Sat morning cartoons, wrestling, and kung fu flicks is what my weekend tv veiwing consisted of in my younger days. We haven't done much else. We started watching the first Harry Potter movie last night but she went to bed about half an hour into the movie and to my great suprised requested to watch the rest of the movie today. When the movie was done and the lights were turned back on she had a smile on her face. I thought "I'll be damned she really like that movie" We are going to take her to the MFA tomorrow and on Saturday night we are going to a POPS performance at Symphony Hall.
I got an elliptical machine this Monday. I'm really excited. I've been getting up early in the mornings so that I can practice yoga before going to work but Paul and Grandma are visiting which makes the accessibility of the living room at 6:00 in the morning a bit difficult. Ehh....who am I kidding I longed for an elliptical machine for a couple of years now. So excited.trisha's blog smells funny Thank you for that JD. Anyhooo.... I'm super excited and super out of shape. I've been a big girl for a long time but I played soccer in high school and did my three month gym spurts and did yoga so I've always been able to tolerate activity. I didn't realize how much sitting on my ass I was doing the past couple of years until this morning. Despite my doing yoga in the early morning I apparently wasn't prepared for how weak I am in the cardiovascular area. I'm non too happy about it and plan to report exercise attempts in a couple of weeks. In the mean time I'm going to keep on trucking and hopefully get access to the living room again to practice in the morning. BLAH BLAH BLAH... Ah Cindy you are the only one who listens (reads) and cares...
