ARRGGGGHHHH. I'd like for once to be able to schedule myself for classes without it being an issue. I picked out my classes as soon as the fall course book came out and have been patiently waiting for the first day that I am eligible to register to begin. Today is that day. So I did. The hitch is that I, for some unknown reason, can't register for Circuit Lab. I get a messages saying that I don't meet the prerequiste. Which is kind of funny because it doesn't have a prerequiste it has a corequisite, which is Circuit Analysis. I got into Circuit Analysis with out batting an eye. What a pain.

I'm very proud of myself. Today I managed to finish two and a half projects. I finally started and finished JD's ipod holder. I finished a hat that I had started probably in January and just forgot about. The half project is one sock out of a pair. I worked about two inches of icord which will be used as a drawstring for the yoga mat bag I'm making.
It's time for bed. Sleep well.

Finally, they have arrived! I received my US size1.5, 2.75mm tortoise shell swallow casein dpns today and I'm so excited. They are flexible!!! The chances of them snapping in half on me are low and I can now resume sock knitting. First, I must tackle my programming project. I can't wait to test these babies out!

Don't ever make a bet with JD. He's a dirty, stinking, flithy cheater!!!!
Brian McCloud our old roommate came to visit us. More on this tomorrow.

I finally did it. I went to a knitting circle. It was nice to sit and knit and talk. My day was pretty much uneventful otherwise. I fudge a physics test. It will be interesting to see my grade. Oh yeah and I managed to break another needle. This super sucks because I haven't gotten my replacement plastic needles yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Go Debbie!!! We look forward to reading more about your adventures! Nate and I should get in on your pirate adventures! Lesbian pirate bar? What? Why was it banned? I should be doing homework and studying for Thursday's Physics test but I'm considering altering items in my clothes to be piraty. Hmmm....maybe I will let my mom by me a sewing machine for my birthday after all.

I finished the little brown bag but I can't post a picture because the camera doesn't work. Sniff sniff. Gotta go back to doing HW.

Wednesday, April 14, 2004

I finished my socks. I think they came out well and will be warm and cozy. I would put up a pic, unfortunately our digital camera isn't working.

My lastest project is a birthday present for Jillian's mom. The little brown bag. I'm crocheting it.

I'm kind of upset. I recently ordered some US #2 DPNs and two needles in a set snapped in half while I was working on an i-cord. This really sucks because I had two sets of socks in progress and now I have to put one on stitch holders until I can replace the needles. I think that I am going to switch to plastic US#1.5 DPNs, hopefully those will hold out longer.
After finally clearing a hold on my student status I was able to start my work study today. It was a pain to get the hold removed though. I initially planned to go to school and remove the hold after class but I got up early and figured I would just call up the registrar and settle it then and there.
Well I called the registrar and was told that the hold was due to my bill...transferred to the bursar.
The bursar told me that I didn't owe any money, that continuing ed. put a hold on my account (online classes are only offered through continuing ed.) and I would have to get them to remove the hold...transferred to continuing ed.
At first some guy tried to tell me to contact the registrar and I quickly said no no I was told to talk to this department. He found someone else to help me.
-She pulls up my account and I'm told "You owe us money that's why you have a hold." -Trish "Oh no I don't. My financial aid covered it and I know that continuing ed. has their money."
-Lady "Hold on let me check. (wait) Yes you are all set your bill is paid."
-Trish "What about the hold? Did you remove it?"
-Lady "We can't remove the hold you have to call the registrar to do that."...hear dial tone so I call registrar again!
I was told by the registrar that continuing ed. placed the hold and I would have to contact them to get it removed. I tell the woman on the other end that I've been transferred way too many times now and relate the story of my mornings phone calls. She puts me on hold and calls continuing ed. After a while ( I suspect she was arguing with someone in continuing ed. about who is responsible for removing the hold) she comes back and tells me I'm all set the hold is removed.
Why?!?! Why did I need to be transferred so many times? Why was it that the department that put the hold on my account couldn't take it off? Why the hell did I have a hold in the first place!!!! AARRGGGHHHH
Paul, JD, Jillian, and I all agree that too many students handle important paper work at colleges and that's why crap like the above happens.
It was a great way to spend the morning...the needles breaking didn't help my day out any either. At least it didn't get worse.

Allison does not have anything I can reinforce my socks with. I called this morning and was told the bad news. She did say that she is ordering some reinforceing thread or lace wieght yarn. Unfortunately for Allison and her customers the industry can't keep up with demands so she can't tell me when she'll be getting any in. It looks like Elann.com might be one of my best alternatives right now.
I'm almost done with the cuff of my first sock so I decide to read further into the pattern. I come across this "...Begin working reinforcing thread together with the sock yarn..." Reinforcing thread? Huh? Ok I understand the reasoning behind it. At this point in the pattern I am starting to work on the heel, heels wear out faster than any other part of the sock hence the reinforcing thread. Did I have the fore sight to read the pattern while I was in Circles buying the yarn? Of course not. I sure hope Allison sells reinforcing thread, if not I'm going to be bummed out about the delay in my sock knitting. It looks like I will finally get around to going to a social knitting circle. I've been meaning too but it's never been a priority but now that crisis is at hand I'm forced to go. Well, I don't really have to stay but I know that Allison will suggest that I stay and knit and I probably won't say no. I need reinforcing thread for the toe too. It's a good thing I read the rest of the pattern or I might have had to make two trips for thread. Actually the pattern starts to turn into Greek around the instep area. Perhaps going to this knitting circle won't be such a bad idea.

I'm a bad girlfriend. It took my looking back at a previous post to remember that I was supposed to make JD an ipod holder. Totally forgot. I started knitting socks instead.
Well it's almost 8:30 in the morning and I thought that I'd just check my email and junk. I get a big surprise in my inbox. Debbie joined Friendster. This is something that JD's sister introduced me to months back and I have not been good about getting on and making those Friendster connections. Now that Debbie has joined it has brought me new hope of finding people that I can harass. Lovingly of course. Or my current friends can Friendster too. You know you want to. Be a Friendster. Listen to the sooth....errr read the soothing text.
On a wholely different note. I was flipping through Debbie's boyfriend Matt's weblog archives and found this gem. The sandwich project seems pretty damn cool. I even entered my own sammy. Keep scrolling it's towards the bottom.

I haven't seen "American Idol" ( can't say I'm disappointed) but I have heard Mr. Hung's version of "She Bangs". Needless to say it's special. Though I'm suprised that he thinks he has a career as a pop star.
JD's having tag problems must go to his rescue!!! WOOSH
I've been flipping through my new sweater book and looking up DK weight yarns online. This is always how it starts. I haven't even finished the Kyoto sweater yet. I just started working on socks yesterday. GAHHHH!!! I know what's going to happen. I can't help myself. It's like a drug. I don't need another project. I have my at home and my on the T projects. Must not buy yarn...must not buy yarn...MUST NOT BUY YARN!!!!
